Accreditation survey

core definition

Accreditation survey is a term mainly applicable in the US context and refers to a process of checking compliance.

explanatory context

analytical review

The UNESCO definition is:

The evaluation of an institution to identify its level of compliance with the applicable standards of the accreditation body and to make determinations concerning its accreditation status. The survey includes an evaluation of documents and information (evidence) provided by the personnel of the higher education institution, following on-site observations by mandated visitors. (Vlãsceanu, et al., 2007, p. 27)

In many respects this is similar to compliance audits.
