Mutual recognition

Mutual recognition is agreement between two (or more) organisations to recognise each other's processes or programmes

Mutual recognition may between higher education institutions, quality or accrediting agencies or professional bodies.

The UNESCO definition of:

Mutual Recognition: Agreement by two or more institutional bodies to validate each other’s degrees, programmes, or institutions and/or affirmation by two or more quality assurance or accrediting agencies that the methodology of the agencies are sound and that the procedures are functioning accordingly. (Vlãsceanu et al. 2004, p.55)
