A novel of twists and surprises

How can I help my students to think about what they're learning, and how they're developing?

The Self-efficacy Questionnaire (SEQ) can be used, on an individual or class basis, to get students to think about the issues involved.

As with all questionnaire work, care needs to be taken not to place students in a position in which they could be psychologically stressed. The questionnaire is likely to show that some students score more strongly than others on the items, and it is necessary to be clear that the SEQ does not reveal any absolute truths (it doesn't), but provides prompts for students to review how they approach their work in higher education and in life more generally. There are no 'right answers' here.
